Food Grade Rubber Belting – Fastening Process

There may arise a situation when food grade rubber belting needs joints. The first question that arises is the methods available to fasten the two ends and the technique suitable for the application. Whenever you shut down the conveyor belt for repair purpose it results in downtime and loss of productivity. Even when the belt is replaced during scheduled maintenance there is a need to ensure the splice operating criteria is met. In the case of raw food processing industry, the belt splice should meet hygienic standards. Some of the key considerations include cost factor and technology. A few years ago, fabric rubber belting technology was used in conveyor applications. The PVC coated fabric belts are attached to the conveying equipment with the help of vulcanization process. The ends are cut in pattern, named finger splice. It is then placed into heated press and the vinyl ends are melted together.
